چکیده

Introduction Atrial arrhythmia is common in patients with an atrial septal defect (ASD). Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the main cause of morbidity in older patients with ASD. An unroofed coronary sinus (CS) is rare (in,1% of all types of ASD) and is often associated with persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) and other forms of complex congenital heart disease and heterotaxy syndromes. Unroofed CS rarely occurs alone. This is a unique report of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for paroxysmal AF in a patient with stand-alone unroofed CS.

Innappropriate Sinus Tachycardia After Superior Vena Cava Isolation In Addition To Pulmonary Veins Isolatin Of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation Cryoballoon Ablation.

We report a case of persistent inappropriate sinus tachycardia (IST) after pulmonary vein and superior vena cava (SVC) isolation with cryoballoon ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF). After the cryoballoon ablation (CBA) procedure, the patient presented with sinus tachycardia of 105 beats/minute. The patient was successfully treated with metoprolol and ivabradine therapy.

Catheter ablation for the treatment of persistent atrial fibrillation: Maintenance of sinus rhythm with left atrial appendage and coronary sinus isolation after multiple ablation procedures

Introduction After seminal research demonstrated the pulmonary veins (PVs) and PV antrum contained substrates that can initiate and perpetuate paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) in the majority of patients, catheter ablation with circumferential pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) has become the cornerstone treatment for the management of paroxysmal AF. However, in patients with persistent and long...

Differentiation of atrial and pulmonary vein potentials recorded circumferentially within pulmonary veins.

INTRODUCTION Accurate discrimination of atrial and pulmonary vein potentials recorded circumferentially within the pulmonary veins is important when performing segmental isolation of the pulmonary veins in patients with atrial fibrillation. METHODS AND RESULTS Twenty patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation underwent pulmonary vein mapping with a decapolar Lasso catheter during sinus rhyt...

New Technologies and Hybrid Surgery for Atrial Fibrillation

The Cox maze III and Cox maze IV procedures are surgical solutions for the treatment of symptomatic stand-alone atrial fibrillation. Despite their proven efficacy, these procedures have not gained widespread acceptance because of the invasiveness, complexity, and technical difficulty. Endocardial pulmonary vein isolation is the cornerstone of percutaneous catheter ablation for atrial fibrillati...

Induction of tachycardia confined within a pulmonary vein by electrical cardioversion of atrial fibrillation: Is it proof of reentry?

Description A 66-year-old man with no structural heart disease and daily episodes of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) was referred for pulmonary vein (PV) isolation. The patient had hypertension and no other clinical risk factor related to AF. A quadripolar catheter (Viking, Bard; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA), a 20-pole circular catheter (Optima; St Jude Medical, St. Paul, MN) and an ...
